Who are we?
At College Smart Start, our only goal is to help students meet their goals. We simplify, streamline, and personalize the college application process. We help students, families, and schools skillfully navigate the entire college application process, reducing the confusion and overwhelm that too often define it.
Our students are very thankful to be working with College Smart Start. CSS is very real in their approach — they talk to students directly and honestly, helping them understand how to present their best selves. This year’s acceptances surpassed last year’s, even in this increasingly competitive landscape!
How can we help you?
Drawing on our deep understanding of the process, we advise individual schools, school systems, and entire counties. We address the nuances and changes to the admissions process and how it impacts Florida public universities.
We have presented to individual AP classes, auditoria filled with students and parents, and county-wide training sessions. Working within your budget, we tailor our content to address the needs of your students (& their families!) and your administration.
What do we offer?
Presentations: Exploring how colleges select their students and how you and your students can maximize chances of admission.
We’ll show you what you’re actually up against, what colleges are actually looking for, and ways to make college affordable. Our presentations work best at events like College Night, PTO meetings, and student assemblies. They are most often high-level introductions to the process.
Training Workshops: In-depth discussions of how best to serve your students.
These are usually smaller groups to address your specific questions, but they also be adapted for large groups. Workshops are most often tailored to administrative and counseling staff and to English teachers; they’re a great way to fulfill in-service requirements and to help teachers help their students.
Student Intensives: Hands-on sessions that introduce your students to the most effective application techniques.
Application intensives focus on the whole process, from school selection to navigating the Common App and the portal process to activities list reviews and financial aid — we cover everything students need to know in this whole process. Essay intensives focus specifically on the personal statement and/or supplemental essays. Students leave our intensives with a deliverable in hand. Intensives usually take place in class-sized groups, but an auditorium filled with laptop-wielding students also works well. We recommend intensives for seniors (at the start of the school year) and juniors (at the end of the school year).
